About Us
The Samanawayam Educational and Charitable Trust is dedicated to uplifting the SC, ST communities.
Background
With the help of modern science and technology, the world is moving towards prosperity and luxury. While the elites can boost their health and wealth using these technologies, many SC/ST individuals in India remain marginalized. Despite the country's progress, these communities often lack access to education, employment, and basic needs. They continue to face challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, homelessness, and disease.
Humble Beginning
We began our journey in 2010 as an informal organization and formally registered under the Indian Charitable Trust Act on 22/02/2020. Our primary aim has been to uplift backward communities like SC, ST, and OEC in society. We have identified several beneficiaries and extended our services, including:
- Financial assistance to needy students and parents
- Personality development classes
- Study tours and camps
- Body mind engineering trainings
- Classes on communal health, diseases, and the cyber world
The trust is managed by a director board elected by the members, consisting of 42 trustees, and supports a group of about 200 families.
Mission
Our mission is to uplift the downtrodden people like SC, ST, and OEC through education, technical training, and employment opportunities.
Vision
Our vision includes:
- Providing financial assistance to needy families
- Offering personality development training
- Arranging awards and honors for achievers in education and other fields
- Establishing technical and paramedical institutions for training
- Helping start self-employment ventures
- Running production centers to provide employment
- Starting dispensaries and hospitals in rural areas
- Encouraging biotechnology initiatives
Unity is Strength
The organization is managed by a Director Board elected by the board of trustees. For effective implementation of our programs, we have organized three main groups:
- Yuvajanavedi: Consisting of youth, Yuvajanavedi has been instrumental in providing fresh ideas and cooperation. Notable members include Dr. Veena V.S., a scientist in Germany who discovered the Gangothri in the Milky Way, and Sri. Adarsh M. Ajay, an award-winning short film creator. One of the prominent programs, "Bedtime Stories," allowed participants to share their life experiences.
- Mahilavedi: Focused on empowering women among SC/ST/OEC communities, Mahilavedi conducts classes on mental health, facing life challenges, issues of working women, and the impacts of the cyber world. They utilized online platforms for conferences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Kalavedi: This group fosters the artistic talents of its members, including poets and writers. They have organized competitions in drawing, painting, and stage performances. Notable events include a competition in 2021 with poet Sri. S Joseph as the chief guest, and online classes during the COVID-hit period.
Family Meet
SEACT conducts an annual convention for all the families associated with it during the Onam season, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
